Heritage matters. Over the last forty years people have started to delve into their past, whether this relates to their town or their family. The media has encouraged and fostered this growing interest with programmes such as Who do you think you are? and Time Team and series by leading historians such as Simon Schama and David Starkey.

This growing interest has been reflected in the number of heritage related groups and societies in the Doncaster area, who came together in 2004 to share their commitment to heritage, resulting in formation of the Doncaster and District Heritage Association.
